Tanner Crab
Chionoecetes tanneri

These crabs can be seen actively walking around at the MARS Observatory site. They are related to Alaskan snow crabs. They eat small clams and other crabs. Carapace width to 5.8 inches (14.8 centimeters). Occasionally you might see a snailfish attached to one of the crabs. The fish attach with a specialized sucker disc.
