The weather continues to foil AUV operations. We woke up to major crunching sounds as the Healy made its way through some multi-year ice. The Captain announced early in the day that all "weather decks" (outside decks) were secured (off limits) due to the marginal weather conditions. Welcome to Arctic in late October!

Well at least we could conduct CTD operations. Ned Cokelet provided the bridge with a plan to conduct ten CTD casts along a 161 km (100 mile) transect. Considering each cast can take up to three hours plus transit time, Ned, Amy West and I were in for a long day. We got two casts completed before the Captain shut down operations due to concerns for the safety of the crew deploying the equipment.

Food continues to be excellent. Sunday's dinner menu included turkey with all the fixings and a variety of baked deserts.

Well, the double feature has started. This life at sea can be real tough....
